For this presentation, I want you to think of what problems or issues in your community that would like to solve? You will serve as student leaders, forming a non-profit, coming up for a vision for your organization, and coming up with a roadmap for change.
For your final presentation in Week 13, you will include the following:
1) Description of the issues you would like to solve – What is the problem you’re interested in solving and what is the scope of the problem. Include statistics and data if possible.
2) Description of your team’s vision and solution to solve the issue:
A picture – paint a picture for us – what is the vision you have for this organization? What characteristics would it have? A picture is a future that is better than the status quo. Come up with a vision statement for your organization. If it has a visual representation, what would it look like? (e.g., a logo)
A change – A vision represents change in status quo and points to new ways of doing things that are better than in the past. Based on your group’s vision for your organization, identify areas that you feel needs to be changed in order to fix the issues your group has identified.
Values – What are the values driving your organization? (Refer to Chapters 8 & 9)
Map – a map is a laid-out path to follow. What can your organization do in order to achieve your mission/vision? What initiatives? What are the contributions of specific population? How can we ensure that all voices are captured and we’re listening to out-group members as well? (Refer to Chapter 10)
Challenge – what challenges lay ahead? What are some realistic goals your group has set to meet those challenges?
